Almost 15 years ago HelpOurKids was founded to provide kids in foster care access to activities, experiences and opportunities similar to their peers not in foster care. Unfortunately, due to the continual turnover in personnel at our partner agencies there has been a drastic decline in the number of cases that come to us for support as well as follow through for fulfillment of requests over the past few years. We have tried many different approaches and held on in the hope of more opportunity. The need is there but the coordination is not.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that HelpOurKids will cease operation at the end of 2025. All remaining funds held by HelpOurKids will be carefully distributed to organizations with a similar mission.
While this is very disappointing to those of use who have put so much effort into HelpOurKids, we are gratified that we made a significant difference over the years to many kids in foster care. There are numerous kids in foster care whose lives have been affected for the better by music lessons, clothing for school events, sports equipment, college tours, duffle bags, a pen pal and much more. I am helped in dealing with my sadness by the memories of kids who have told us that “This is the best thing that ever happened to me”.
Your support has made all this possible. Kids that you will never meet are grateful to you. We did not change the world but we did improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable kids.
Best wishes to all

We Are HelpOurKids
I decided to start HelpOurKids because I realized that there was a glaring gap in the already difficult lives of kids in the foster care system.
Many foster parents are angels disguised as regular people, but very often have limited resources. As a result, there’s often too little time and money to help provide children in foster care with much besides the basics. But it’s those “extras” that your kids and mine probably take for granted, and yet enable them to feel positive about themselves and, ultimately, help them realize their full potential. I’m talking about nourishing their souls and their minds–not just their bodies.
We seek to help foster their full potential!

“No kid asks to be in foster care, but thousands are. We make their lives better.“
